#17 PBWiki

What fun! The template for the wiki looks just like the one for our web pages so it wasn't too hard to input information. I love the collaborative aspect of wiki's and I appreciate the chance to play with the tools available.
#16 Wiki's

I love the versatility of wiki's! It's probably the collaborative effect that attracts me which makes things like document editing so easy. I like the way edits are not so permanent that they can't be reversed and the way they can be tracked so its known who did the edit in question. I like the way it is protected by password as well.
#15 Library & Web 2.0

Much content here with appropriate excitement! It's nice to know that there are more intelligent and future-oriented people out there that are dedicating themselves to ensuring that libraries will exist in the future though in a capacity very hard to grasp at times! All the articles were overflowing with concepts that really deserve much meditation.
I did actually add an RSS feed to Michael Stephens posts on everything library 2.0 and I'm looking forward to reading them.

I agree libraries are looking into the future and debating the direction they will take. I hate that Google has replaced us with quick and dirty answers that are many times misleading and inaccurate. I want libraries to keep the mantra of providing information and translate that into the virtual realm in whatever form that is. I hope I'm not too old or untrainable to meet the challenge. I feel my inability to wrap my brain around a lot of this training is an indicator of my future success to adapt. But then I encourage myself with the knowledge that I saw the usefulness of weblogs years ago when they were such a novelty and that each day I am taking a step toward this virtual space we are living in. I tell myself it's the journey that's the end not the means and so far I haven't fallen off the train...
#14 Technorati Plus

Okay, now I'm back to feeling overwhelmed. I read the text, watched the video, and performed the searches. It is more attractive on the front end than my previous choice of Syndic8, but with the new features demanding my attention, I'm still inundated with information. Just the fact that I can watch comments people make, see who has replied to those comments, see how they rate in the blogosphere, find out what else they have to say, etc. etc., makes me want to go take a nap. For my purposes, I will probably just utilized the information on the homepage of each category: business, entertainment and so on. This does not mean I don't see the important utility of weblogs. I'm just not one to spider the web for news or fun.
That being said, I did happen to find another interesting blog I'd like to check in on frequently, http://www.ohgizmo.com/. Very cool look at new technologies from a layperson's view.

#13 Tagging, etc.

Hmm, this seems like a plan to subvert LC subject headings...but wait, this is much more understandable and intuitive! Apparently, its working quite well and like one of the articles I've read (that was tagged and therefore within reach) it doesn't mean LC is off the throne. This just seems to be a way of organizing and sharing information with other people searching for the same things. I like the way you can snoop into someone's list of links and incorporate their great research into your own. It seems to be a very 'open source' way of building a network of resources which are links to particular articles on the Internet.
#12 Getting to Know You

I enjoyed this exercise because it was familiar territory. I already have a MySpace for the teens I know at work and I use it twofold. My primary purpose was to link to the kids that I talk to everyday and keep relevant in their world. The second purpose was to connect with YA authors and other Teen libraries/librarians. It's amazing how these applications have created a virtual world of images and videos that people visit daily and change constantly.
#11 Library Thing

Well, Heather was right! I do love it! I think it's the book cover graphics that pull me in the way I can rotate the books to my latest read, etc. What a great way to share similar reading interests with people worldwide. But no matter how pretty it is, I'll still use my trusty SPL notebook for keeping track of books read!
